Nostril Asymmetry & Deviated Nose Correction Using Autologous Rib Cartilage - Dr. Young Moon Yoo, Vibe Plastic Surgery

* Basic Information

# Female in her 20s

# Medical History: Double jaw surgery and previous rhinoplasty using ear cartilage

# Current Status: Dissatisfied with the tip height and significant deviation of the nose.

* Consultation

# The patient had previously undergone rhinoplasty using ear cartilage after double jaw surgery. She visited our clinic seeking correction because the nasal tip had become severely deviated.

# Due to the previous double jaw surgery, the nasal floor had weakened, causing the nasal tip to lose its central support and become crooked.

# We planned to correct the deviated nose using autologous rib cartilage and create a higher ‘straight-semi-basal’ (jik-ban) profile.

* Surgical Plan

# Bridge Rhinoplasty

- Implant replacement

# Tip Rhinoplasty

- Autologous rib cartilage

- Deviated nose correction

1. The 7th rib cartilage on the right side was harvested and used. Since autologous rib cartilage is harvested through a short incision of about 2.5 to 3 cm, there is no need to worry excessively about scarring. In cases like this, where there is a history of double jaw surgery and significant deviation, it is crucial to achieve a firm correction using strong cartilage like autologous rib cartilage.

2. Deviated nose surgery is a high-difficulty procedure, but patient satisfaction tends to be high. This is because it resolves the crooked appearance from the front and creates a straight central axis.
