✅ What is Bulbous Nose Correction?

A bulbous nose refers to a shape where the tip appears spread out and blunt because the skin at the tip is thick or the tip cartilages are flared apart.

In this patient’s case:

The tip cartilages (lower lateral cartilages) were flared,

and the skin was thick with somewhat developed subcutaneous fat.

Therefore, rather than simply raising the tip, ‘cartilage correction’ was necessary to rearrange the actual structure of the nasal tip.

👉 Surgery Summary:Gathering the flared tip cartilages toward the center.Building a sturdy support (columellar strut) in the center of the tip using septal cartilage.Minimizing unnecessary subcutaneous fat to refine the volume of the tip.Thinning ear cartilage to create a soft and natural tip line.

Through this, the blunt and spread-out impression was improved, and the center of the tip became clearly defined when viewed from the front.

The nasolabial angle is the angle formed between the nose and the upper lip. If this angle is too small, it can give the impression that the face is pressed in.

Conversely, if the angle is too large, it can look upturned and artificial.

In this patient’s case, the nasolabial angle was narrow and the nose lacked dimensionality, so we designed the correction to enhance the three-dimensional feel of the nose.

👉 Correction Method:Enhancing the nasolabial angle through septal cartilage extension.Finely adjusting the angle of the tip support and the extended cartilage to create a natural straight-semi-oversized (Jik-ban) line.Designing the connection area between the lips and nose (nasolabial region) to open up naturally.

As a result, an appropriate nasal length was secured, and a three-dimensional yet smoothly connected straight-semi-oversized line was completed.
